This summer, we decided to do something a little different: we attended a Water Lantern Festival. This was a community gathering in Portland to support peace, unity, and a clean environment. But it was more than that; each of us built a small floating lantern, decorated or wrote a message, then as dusk settled, made our way to the water's edge and set it afloat. The experience was beautiful and profound.
